About Genus Chusquea (South American Mountain Bamboos)
Widespread in Central and South America. We encountered it at many montane locations in Colombia in June 2023. Our guide shared that small bamboo species are simply called bambú in Spanish, but that the larger species are referred to as guadua (which is also another genus).
